How do you feel about Instagram? | Note from Self week 24
This is what I would tell you about selling on Instagram as a soulful small business owner with less than 500 followers if I were your coach and good friend:
Embodiment over virality
You donât need to follow trends or concern yourself with the algorithm because youâre not creating from “I need to go viral so that I get a lot of followers that become clients”.
You create content and are visible to your dream clients from embodiment, and not just when youâre on the app. Ask yourself the question: What is the one thing I want to share today that would help my ideal client to take the next small step in the direction towards their goal?
Practical tip:
You can even adapt this text as a carousel post on Instagram for your own soulful service:
This is what I would tell you about (the thing you help with) as a (your dream clients) if I were your (your job description) and good friend:
Clarity over quantity
If I met my ideal client in real life (e. g. at a retreat where Iâm volunteering as a facilitator), and they looked me up on Instagram – would they be able to see at a glance who I am (both personal and how I show up in my business), what my offers are, and how to book them? Does my profile reflect my energy and the energy of my work?
Personality is a part of embodiment
In the age of AI, what makes us human becomes even more valuable. We donât just buy a tool, a service, a technique. It matters to us who we are buying from. So who you are, what you enjoy outside of your work, what makes you you, is what makes someone want to work with you specifically. Thatâs what stories are great for, to share little glimpses of everyday life, or even ask questions and give your dream clients a chance to connect with you beyond your professional expertise.
TLDR (too long didnât read)
Start using Instagram as a tool that helps you share your embodiment as a soulful small business owner and connect with your ideal clients. Look at everything you do on Instagram through the lens of curation – then a lot of the questions (how does the algorithm work, how often should I post, what kind of content is trending right now, âŚ) suddenly become obsolete and you have a great guideline for whatâs right for you.
Would love to hear from you if this sparked any ideas for you on how to approach Instagram differently from how you have done so far. Just press reply and write me.
