Notes from Self

The flipside of freedom | Note from Self week 23

This past week marked a pretty significant beginning of a new chapter for me. My last day of work at my 9-to-5 was this past Sunday at the hotel. Monday was the first day where it was just me and my business, and already the week before I could feel the energy coming in — having ideas on offers and what to talk to you about. It was just really building up. So the past week was really a mix of all kinds of emotions and excitement over finally having the space to share a lot more, and to get deeper into my offers and helping soulful business owners grow their business with a small following on Instagram (I’m talking less than 500 followers).

I finally learned to love writing sales pages (that’s really not how I first started out) 😅

I wrote a sales page for my first offer, the Loving Sales Mastery. It’s not quite done yet, but it felt so good writing this, and it felt like such a victory. Because in the beginning of my business journey, when I wrote a sales page for the very first time, it felt so hard and I felt like I’m never going to be able to do this.

That is just the cool thing about when you start understanding that your business journey really is a journey of mastery. It’s not this one-and-done; there is not this one course, this one coaching that will switch a flip and everything just goes really smoothly. It’s really about keeping at it and staying true to yourself — figuring out who you are and how you can build your business in alignment with your needs and your values, and your clients and their best interest.

It felt really good writing the sales page and it not feeling like such a chore, but really appreciating how this helps me gain more clarity on my offer, where I need to improve it, where I maybe just need to be even more clear about what people get out of it. That felt soooo gooddddd.

And also being more connected to you on Instagram again, creating content that I could really feel, and talking to you in the stories, connecting with you there and just sharing tips on how to sell with integrity as a small, spiritual business owner.

So happy that I can really feel the energy. And that is so important — not just in the beginning of your business but with every new offer — where you’re the first person who has to feel it, who has to bring the vision into the world and share it with others. You are the one to communicate what you see and why you feel like people need to care about what it is that you see, and how it would really benefit them.

The Flip Side — The Fears and That Surface 🌊

That was the great part. The flip side of it, of course, is that suddenly you’re faced with all the things that you could avoid while you have a 9-to-5. When you have a 9-to-5, yes, it’s nice to have something that takes the pressure off of you having to be successful in your business and having to rely on that income. At the same time, it also makes it so that you can avoid your success, you can avoid making your offers, you can postpone it indefinitely — and it’s not even just your fears. For me, a 9-to-5 always takes up so much energy that there isn’t really much left for me to create.

And so when I do have all that space and energy – of course, it also brings up all the fears:

    •    What if it’s not working this time?

    •    What if nobody is going to want to hear this?

    •    What if I’m completely off and nobody wants this?

    •    Is my price too high?

All those things. I get a lot of anxiety and fear and restlessness, and of course it’s not a pleasant feeling. All of that comes up.

Why I Choose the Anxiety Over the Numbness 💡

The way I see it is, if I have to choose between the two — the numbness and the feeling that I have to make myself small and kind of fit myself into this tiny box and be content with it, where no matter how much I try it will never feel like I’m genuinely creating the value that I think I can — versus all the anxiety that I get, I actually choose the anxiety.

Because part of the anxiety is: you need to do it enough times to understand that okay, this isn’t just me, it’s just part of the process. You’ll get through it, and you will get the proof that your fearful thoughts aren’t right.

And I’m not talking about bulldozing yourself. I’m not talking about going against yourself and moving forward anyway regardless of your fears. I am saying: take this as an opportunity to engage with these fearful and anxious thoughts that this process is dragging into the light — from your unconscious, your subconscious — into your conscious mind. If you’re here, you’re into inner work and personal growth and your spiritual growth. Take this as an opportunity to actively engage with those thoughts and then make empowered decisions about how to move forward with them, not against them.

I would choose that every day over the numbness of being in the wrong place, doing the thing that is not really me.

So obviously this has been a very intense week, and I expect it to be like this moving forward — and I am actually okay with that. I can choose, and I choose that.

Three Things I Want You to Take Away 🌿

One: It’s ok that this feels hard. It really is.

If you’re on your business journey, yes, it is hard. There’s nothing wrong with you for experiencing it that way. So many coaches and creators on Instagram and social media are still making it look easy and simple — like you just need their one course or program or coaching and then you’re all done. That’s marketing. If it feels hard, it’s not you; it’s because it is hard. And there are still reasons why it’s worth pursuing. You have a gift to share with the world, and the world needs that, especially if you’re a healer. It’s worth figuring out how to do that. And for your own personal growth, it is such a journey of self-empowerment.

Two: You’re meant to have what you truly want.

When there is something that you genuinely, truly want — that’s not just an idea — you can also always remember that you’re meant to have that thing. The journey there just takes you through all these challenges, and through mastering these challenges you grow. That is what we’re here for. We’re here for that kind of expansion, for that kind of growth. It’s not so that we will fail. It is so that we will grow on the path to the fulfillment of our desire.

Three: You are good the way you are — right now.

You can do it the way you are. The trick, if there is a trick, is actually not trying to bend over backwards and become something that you’re not so that you can master this. The point is to find the way that works for you, the way you are right now.

Because right now the world isn’t built for people to thrive in it. Most workplaces, which are businesses, are not built around people’s needs. If you’re a sensitive person, it’s totally worth it to embark on this journey, to stick with it, to figure out a way that business works for you as a sensitive person — because that will create not just a life for you where your needs matter and you’re abundant, also financially. It will also create a model and an example for others that this is possible.

No matter what you do, please remember: you’re good and loved the way you are. You deserve all the good things. It’s about finding the way that works for you, the way you are right now.
